Teardrop Mandolin (MN001) - Spruce Top, Mahogany Back and Ribs, Sycamore Neck Rosewood Fretboard

I am selling a teardrop mandolin made for personal use in 2000. I have played the mandolin over the years but I am (in amongst commissions) making a 'cittern' shaped mandolin of longer scale length for my own use. I fully refurbished the mandolin during 2016, including a new spruce top. It is in very good condition. There is a natural 'growth mark' in the wood of the neck (see photo) which is in no way detrimental to the instrument.

The mandolin is a canted top design, similar to the well-known Neapolitan mandolins, and has a flat back. The scale length is 360 mm. The sound is bright and loud, well suited to sessions of traditional music but all of the mandolin repertoire can be enjoyed on this instrument.

At £345 (excluding courier costs) this is an opportunity to acquire a hand-made mandolin at a very reasonable price. I would prefer the instrument to be collected in person, but I will ship subject to an extra charge covering a hard case and shipping costs for a mandolin of this quality.

I am based in Kendal, Cumbria and anyone interested in this instrument is welcome to come and view/try the mandolin. To arrange a sale, visit to view or ask a question please contact me from the Contact page.
